Practical Ways to Use ChatGPT in Your Biz

If we learned anything in December 2022, it was that we can’t afford to ignore the advancements in AI technology! ChatGPT was one of the hottest topics in December, crossing a million users less than a week after it was released to the public.

Like it or not, AI is a new form of leverage that is here to stay.

In the coming year, those who start using AI tools in their business to increase efficiency and decrease expenses will have a huge advantage over those who don’t.

But…how can you actually use ChatGPT in your daily business operations?

There are really too many applications for ChatGPT to cover in one post, but these are some of the most practical ways ChatGPT can help you scale your biz in 2023.

Writing or Fixing Code

When I ask ChatGPT directly, it consistently tells me that it can’t write code. But I guess this is one of those rare cases when ChatGPT is wrong…because that’s clearly not the case! (I guess it underestimates its own capabilities??? Or maybe I suck at asking questions properly…)

Anyway, ChatGPT consistently writes CSS for me without a problem.

ChatGPT can write code in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python. It can probably write in other programming languages as well, despite telling me that it really can’t write code…

For more complicated projects, ChatGPT’s code isn’t always accurate or complete. But it can still save you a lot of time by providing most of what you need in just a few seconds. Then you can simply fix the errors, add a few lines that ChatGPT left out, and have your code ready to run with the minimal amount of work.

Idea and Name Generation

ChatGPT is pretty useful for generating business name ideas, marketing campaign ideas, startup ideas…you name it.

Unlike the current name generators or idea generators on the internet, ChatGPT can customize its results based on your feedback. For example, let’s say you want to generate a business name for a local coffee shop. Here are ten local coffee shop names that ChatGPT generated for me:

Now, let’s say you don’t want your local coffee shop name to contain the words “coffee” or “bean.” Easy. All you have to do is tell ChatGPT to exclude any names with the words “coffee” or “bean.” You can have it rewrite the list for you as many times as you want, fine-tuning your prompt each time until it starts generating names that you really like.

Content Creation

AI writing tools are old news. We’re all familiar with platforms like Jasper AI, Copy AI, Rytr, and others that use GPT-3 to generate content based on text prompts.

However, ChatGPT has an edge over most of the current AI writing tools, because ChatGPT is interactive. For example, you can ask ChatGPT to expand on a topic, rewrite its output in simpler language, or add a related quote to the text. By working back and forth with ChatGPT, you can create a piece of content that is far more polished than what other AI writing tools can generate.

Currently, most AI-written content is fluffy, redundant, and requires heavy editing to be turned into anything useful. But ChatGPT can do most of the editing for you, if you give it enough direction and are specific when asking it to edit the text it writes. This can be a huge time-saver when creating written content for your business.

Translation and Conversational Language Learning

ChatGPT is adept at translating languages, and it’s far better than your regular translator app. That’s because you can ask ChatGPT to explain the context and usage rules for words or phrases you don’t understand.

ChatGPT is trained in Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Russian, and a wide variety of other languages. Because you can speak with ChatGPT in any of the languages it has been trained in, it’s a fantastic tool for conversational language learning. You can literally chat with AI in the language you are trying to learn, and ask it to explain any phrases or words that you don’t understand.

Customer Personas & Recommendations

Marketers tend to get too caught up with buyer personas, but they can still be valuable resources. And ChatGPT is fantastic for generating buyer personas or fictional customer profiles.

Once you have ChatGPT generate personas, there’s actually a lot you can do with them. For example, you can ask ChatGPT to write copy specifically targeting a certain buyer persona that it generated. Or give you gift recommendations for each persona. Or create personalized workout plans for each persona…

You get the point. As a general rule of thumb, you shouldn’t rely on personas too much in your business. But they can be useful tools for marketing to your target audience.

SEO Keyword Research

ChatGPT can’t browse the internet, so it doesn’t know the current search volume, competition, or other statistics for keywords. But it CAN generate keyword ideas and map out content clusters for general topics.

You can use ChatGPT to map out target keywords for your business blog, then generate long-tail keywords to target for each broad keyword. Then you can add a third column to your table with longer-tail keywords…and just get lost in keyword research forever, down the SEO rabbit hole.

2023 is going to be an exciting year for business owners who use ChatGPT. This nifty AI tool has the potential to skyrocket your productivity and increase your cashflow…and somehow it is STILL free as of writing this post.

So, if you haven’t tried ChatGPT yet, set up a free account with OpenAI then go to chat.openai.com to try it out!
